In this workshop singer-songwriter and performer Eva Geist proposes an esoteric journey to discover the voice. Singing has always been a human way of connecting to the divine. Voice therefore not only as “saying” as “communicating”, content-containing, emanating from me outwards; voice neither as “vocality” or vocal technique, nor as a simple bio-mechanical and physical phenomenon. ‘Giving voice’ means giving space, making visible, highlighting. What? Above all, emotion: e-emotion = energy in motion. What energy? Consciousness, which my organ of flesh and breath makes matter. Thus the Voice becomes the vehicle of soul-matter, which has its seat in our body in the heart. My heart: my soul: my voice, seamlessly. The power of the voice, which resides in various energy centres of the body (in addition to the heart, e.g. the uterus, in women, the pelvic bones, etc.), can be awakened through a gentle practice designed to promote relaxation and is preparatory to mutual and inner listening. In fact, caring for the voice means above all caring for listening. In an intimate and protected context that favours wild expression and the emergence of magical thinking, we want to rely on the mystical power of affirmation and the ecstasy of singing, following the suggestions of ancient traditions close to our traditions. Loose and natural, the voice returns naked, human. Thus healing the voice, we heal through the voice. And with the healing power of our newborn speech we heal the world.
